Circular Ports for Global Trade: Green Infrastructure and Smart Connectivity

International Conference on Circular Ports and Strategic Aegean–Black Sea Connectivity The international conference “Circular Ports for Global Trade: Green Infrastructure and Smart Connectivity,” held in Thessaloniki, brought together high‑level representatives from governments, European institutions, port authorities, financial organizations and the business community from across Southeast Europe. The forum was organized by the Bulgarian‑Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BHCCI) in partnership with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the participation of key institutional stakeholders.

The conference was held under the auspices of:

• Ministry of Interior, Region of Macedonia–Thrace (Greece)

• Greek Association of Supply Chain Management (EELBE)

• Association of Enterprises of the Industrial Area of Thessaloniki (SEVIPETH)

• Greek Exporters Organization (SEVE) The conference focused on the strategic role of ports in developing sustainable transport and energy corridors linking the Aegean and the Black Sea, and on their importance for regional economic integration and sustainable development. Discussions addressed major infrastructure initiatives, including the Sea2Sea project, which envisages rail connectivity between the ports of the Aegean and the Black Sea and their integration into the European transport network. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of ports in the context of the European Green Deal, energy security and the development of the circular economy. Participants highlighted the need for enhanced regional coordination, strategic investment and stronger cooperation among EU Member States in order to strengthen sustainable connectivity and the economic resilience of the region.
